The excess, also known as the deductible, is the amount of money the renter is responsible for in case of damage or loss to the insured vehicle. This policy covers you for that liability, subject to the terms and conditions.

What vehicles are covered?
Vehicles with up to 9 seats, including the driver’s, with a maximum recommended retail price of €120,000 and a maximum age of 20 years.
Not covered: Motorhomes, vans, campervans, trailers or caravans, commercial vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, off-road vehicles, or vehicles with more than 9 seats.
In which countries does SeguroCochedeAlquiler provide coverage?
SeguroCochedeAlquiler provides coverage in all countries except Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Congo, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Myanmar, North Korea, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, and Zimbabwe. Additionally, it does not cover countries for which the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel warning.
Which drivers are covered?
You must be the main driver listed on the rental agreement and meet the policyholder requirements for the coverage to be valid. In addition to you, all eligible additional drivers listed in the rental agreement are also covered.
How many rentals are covered by the annual policy?
You can rent as many times as you like throughout the year within the territory covered by your policy, with a maximum duration of 31 days per rental.
What is the maximum duration for a daily policy?
The rental period must not exceed 120 calendar days to be covered.
Does SeguroCochedeAlquiler cover lost keys?
Yes, we cover lost keys at no extra cost. While rental companies typically charge around €350 for lost keys, we offer up to €500 in coverage for replacement, including locksmith and lock change expenses.
Besides lost keys, am I covered if I accidentally lock them inside the vehicle?
Absolutely — we cover accidental lockouts when the keys are left inside the vehicle. The only exception is if damage is caused by the insured or the locksmith while attempting to open the car.
Are tires, windows, the roof, and the undercarriage of the rental vehicle covered?
Yes, SeguroCochedeAlquiler covers accidental damage and theft, including damage to vulnerable parts of the vehicle such as windows, tires, roof, and undercarriage — which are often excluded from the excess waivers offered by rental companies.
What is 'wrong fuel' coverage?
We cover the costs of fuel tank drainage, additional travel expenses, and towing of the vehicle when the wrong type of fuel is mistakenly used. This coverage does not include engine repairs or related parts, nor any costs associated with missed departures.
Does my policy cover rental car insurance on a safari?
No. Incidents occurring while driving on safaris or adventure tours, as well as participating in races, rallies, trials, speed tests, offroad driving or motorsport circuits, are not covered by the policy.
In which cases might a claim not be covered?

What does it mean that delivery charges are covered?
It means that if no authorized person is available to return the rental car to the agreed drop-off location due to an accident or illness requiring hospitalization, we will reimburse the policyholder for the costs charged by the rental company to recover the vehicle. The policyholder must provide a medical certificate or a letter from a doctor confirming the hospitalization. If the rental agreement does not specify return to the same location, the claim will not be paid.
In case of vehicle theft, do I need to file a report?
Yes, you must report it to the police within 24 hours.
Is a replacement vehicle covered in case of breakdown or accident?
It is not covered.
Can I insure all types of rental vehicles?
Our policy covers most vehicles; however, it does not cover the rental of: motorhomes, vans, campervans, trailers or caravans, commercial vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, off-road vehicles, or vehicles with more than 9 seats.
Can I purchase the daily policy after the rental has already started?
No, the duration of the daily policy must match the rental agreement. If the policy is purchased on the same day the rental begins, it must be contracted before the rental agreement starts. Otherwise, it will not be covered.
Do I need to notify the rental company and/or provide vehicle details each time I rent during the active period of the annual policy?
No, you do not need to notify us — only in the event of a claim.
What payment methods does SeguroCochedeAlquiler accept?

Can I cancel the policy?
You can cancel your policy before the start date and we will refund the full premium you paid, provided no more than 14 days have passed since the purchase date.
You may cancel your policy at any other time, but no refund will be issued.

Do I need to renew the policy?
If you have an annual policy, renewal is automatic. However, you will receive an email at the address you provided 60 days before the expiration date so you can decide whether to cancel.
In case of breakdown, roadside assistance or accident, who should I contact?
You must contact the insurance provided by your rental company. SeguroCochedeAlquiler is a reimbursement insurance, which will refund you afterwards for the covered charges made by your rental company.
Make sure to gather evidence of the damages by taking photos, and request an invoice/supporting documentation from the rental company for the charges related to the damages, as well as the signed settlement or final invoice.

What to do in case of an accident with a third party and you're not at fault?
If you've had an accident involving another vehicle and you're not at fault, the first thing you should do is inform the rental company as soon as possible. Then, make sure to gather all relevant information that can help clarify the facts, such as the other vehicle and driver's details, photos of the damage to the vehicles and the accident scene, and information from any witnesses who can support your version of events.
The at-fault party's insurance should cover the damage to the rental vehicle. If the rental company charges you for these damages, you will need to file a claim, explaining that you are not responsible and that the at-fault driver's insurance should cover the costs.
If you are filing a claim because the rental vehicle was damaged by a third party, you must provide us with written confirmation from the rental company stating whether liability for the incident has been determined.
Please note that SeguroCochedeAlquiler does not cover third-party damages.
How long does it take to get the excess refunded in case of a claim?
Once we receive all the documentation and the rental company has assessed the damage and finalized the charge, the refund is processed within 48 to 72 business hours. There are cases where the rental company withholds an amount pending the final damage assessment.
